Kinetica In Favour Of Sandringham Handicap

After giving the matter plenty of thought it appears that the in-form Sir Mark Prescott has decided to sidestep a crack at the Group 1 Coronation Stakes on the fourth day of the fixture and will instead saddle his useful filly Kinetica and attempt to shake up the Betfair Royal Ascot 2012 odds in the listed Sandringham Handicap a couple of days earlier.

At the time of writing Prescott has sent out just 24 runners so far this season but has clocked up six winners at a fine strike rate of 25%, suggesting he is being particularly careful over when and where he runs his horses at the moment.

Although Kinetica is a decent performer, she would certainly have been amongst the outsiders for the Coronation Stakes, having plenty to find with the likely principles who are already proven Group 1 performers.

The daughter of Stormy Atlantic won in listed company as a juvenile last season before finishing third in the Group 3 Sweet Solera Stake sat Newmarket in August behind the Godolphin filly Discourse.

She then occupied the same position in another Group 3 event at Longchamp the following month over a mile, and ended her first term with a lack lustre effort at the Curragh on heavy ground and has yet to race so far this campaign.

Prescott seems to feel that the Sandringham Stakes is a better place in which to start off his filly this term and it certainly would have been asking a great deal of her to go straight in at the deep end against the cream of European filly milers without having had a previous outing.

Amongst other possible Prescott representatives on the first few days of the showcase fixture, Worthadd may tackle the mighty Frankel in the opening event on Tuesday, the Queen Anne Stakes.

Elsewhere, Liber has an entry in the Windsor Castle Stakes, the useful Clinical could go for the Windsor Forest Stakes and Albamara is of particular interest to punters on Betfair.com in the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes on Thursday.
